Gragaugh Bridge spans the Kings River on the back road between Lismolin and Ballingarry.
Defects were identified in the bridge last year following which it was closed to vehicles.
Local Councillor Eddie O'Meara says consultants have now been appointed to the project who will in turn engage contractors to carry out the work.
He says the closure of Gragaugh Bridge has been a huge inconvenience to locals.
