More strong winds and heavy rain forecast

Met Éireann has issued another weather warning – a status yellow rainfall alert is in place for Clare, Kerry Donegal and all of Connacht.

Meanwhile a Status Yellow wind alert has been issued for Tipperary and the rest of the country with gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour possible.

Clare County Council has requested the help of the army while North Tipperary is also on flood alert due to increasing water levels in Lough Derg and the Shannon.

Members of the defence forces have been deployed to Castleconnell and Mountpellier in Co Limerick, where households are on high alert of further flooding.
