Shane Ross travels to the Premier county tomorrow to meet with a delegation from Tipperary County Council who are calling for extra funds to tackle the problem.
It has been facilitated by Tipp TD Mattie McGrath.
With the appointment of a new Transport Minister in May, Tipperary County Council penned a letter to his department seeking a meeting with Shane Ross about the need for extra monies to improve the county's deteriorating roads.
However much to their bitter disappointment their request – which had been successful with previous incumbents – appeared to fall on deaf ears as Minister Ross refused the meeting citing a full diary.
But several councillors then lobbied local TD Mattie McGrath to speak with the Minister and he agreed to meet with the local authority by the summer break.
That meeting has now been fixed for the county council offices in Clonmel this Thursday at 3 pm where local representatives will be hoping Shane Ross looses the grip on his department purse strings so much need works on routes across Tipperary can be carried out.
The deputation will be headed up by Mayor Siobhan Ambrose and include chairpersons of the 5 Municipal Districts as well as Deputy CEO Matt Shortt, Senior Roads Engineer Michael Hayes, Director of Services for Roads Marcus O'Connor and Senior Executive Officer Ger Walsh.
