Mid Tipp Community Devastated by Tragic Deaths

Sr. Imelda Carew from Kilmore near Dundrum and Sr. Paula Buckely from Camas outside Cashel drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming at Inch Strand in Kerry on Thursday.

70 year old Sr Buckley was just days away from celebrating 50 years of religious life and planned to mark the occassion with family and friends in early September.

67 year old Sr Carew who was the congregation's leader in the South East Province Ireland was very active in justice ministry throughout the world.

She is reposing at the Presentation Convent in Clonmel today from 12 until 5 while Sr Paula will be laid to rest next Tuesday after 12 o'clock funeral mass in Cashel.

Mid Tipp Councillor Roger Kennedy, who knew both Sisters, says the local communities are devestated.
