The company's launching a campaign to highlight the dangers of interfering with the devices today.
In the last two years there have been almost 1,500 cases of gas meter tampering and over 1,100 cases of other meters being damaged.
Gas networks Ireland says it’s highly dangerous to interfere with any type of meter.
