A number of medicines produced by MSD in Tipperary appear to be in short supply.

The pharmaceutical giant has contacted pharmacists advising that production of some drugs was hit as a result of the Petya ransomware attack last June.

The company was one of at least three multinationals based in Ireland which were targeted in the incident.

The cyberattack disrupted their worldwide operations, including manufacturing, research and sales operations.

It’s understood the supply of drugs used to treat asthma and cholesterol which are manufactured in MSD Ballydine are among those affected.
