Manhunt underway following Cork murder

Gardaí investigating the murder of father of two Aidan O'Driscoll in Cork say it's too early to determine who was responsible for his shooting.

The 37-year old former Real IRA Chief – was shot three times as he was walking along Commons Road in Blackpool at 5 o'clock yesterday evening.

The road remains sealed off for a forensic examination but Gardaí expect it to reopen after lunchtime.

Superintendent Michael Comyns says witnesses and information from the public will be key to resolving the murder of Aidan O'Driscoll – a father of two – who was engaged to be married.

The Ballyvolane native had links to the Real IRA and this will form a major part of the investigation but Superintendent Comyn says it's still early days:

A silver grey Nissan Almeira car and a white Vauxhall Astra van were later found burnt out at Redemption Road and in Killeens and these will form a major part of the investigation as will the results of a post mortem being carried out this afternoon.

Aidan O'Driscoll – who's nickname is The Beast was gunned down on Commons Road in Blackpool and people here are shocked by what happened:

Anyone with information is being reminded that everything they say to Gardaí will be held in the strictest of confidence.
