Man killed in N24 crash

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road crash on the N24 overnight. 

Two cars collided on the Piltown bypass outside Carrick on Suir around 1am…one car failed to remain at the scene. 

The two car collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the N24 Piltown By Pass near Fiddown around 1am this morning. 

The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. 

His body has since been removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.

Gardaí say the second car failed to remain at the scene. 

The road remains closed this morning to allow for a forensic collision examination to take place, it's expected to remain closed for several hours.
