Major funding for roads across Tipperary.

Much needed maintenance works can be carried out on roads across Tipperary following the confirmation of over €17 million in grants.

The budget is divided into €9.2 million for South Tipperary and €8.4 million for North Tipp.

In North Tipperary the money will be used for projects including bridge repairs in Newport, Ballyoughter, Dolla, Ballyroan and Mullenkeagh.

In South Tipp some of the specific projects include works in Milestone, Newcastle, Goatenbridge and Arravale.

Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tipperary Deputy Alan Kelly, says the funding is vital for the local authorities to protect the investment put into roads in recent years.

He says there's no point in putting in that investment and then watching it deteriorate.
