A tourist route along the shores of Lough Derg is said to be in need of major surgery.
There are calls for special funding to upgrade the R493 which stretches from Nenagh to Carrigahorig.
Local Councillor Joe Hannigan says the 30 kilometre route can play a key part of the Shannon Lakelands initiative.
He wants Tipperary County Council to apply to the Government for money to carry out much needed repairs on the road.
