Kilkenny care facility closed by health watchdog

Our Lady's Unit at St. Patrick's Centre on the Kells Road is to close for up to 28 days and 28 residents are being moved out immediately.

It's the first time HIQA has ordered the closure of a care facility and it's the latest in a series of actions being taken by the watchdog against facilities for people with disabilities.

The HSE has been directed to take charge and make immediate arrangements for providing safe and quality care to the residents.
