The 2015 Tipperary International Peace Award will be presented to the American politician at an official gathering in the coming months.
The prize aims to honour people who work on a global scale to promote peace..previous winners include the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Dr Richard Haas.
Honorary Secretary of the Tipperary Peace Convention Martin Quinn says John Kerry will definitely collect the accolade in person.
