Irish Water will need top-up funding

Irish Water will need almost 300 million euro from the government to make up the cost of water charges.

The utility expects to have a 123 million euro cash shortfall this year alone, according to the Irish Independent.

Water charges were suspended for nine months from July to allow an expert commission to examine the funding model for water services.

Irish Water also expects to need a large spend on PR in the event that charges come back.
