IRA Sinn Fein links described as cancer at heart of North’s government

All but one of the DUP ministers have quit – including First Minister Peter Robinson.

They walked out in a political row sparked by a murder which police are linking to the IRA.

Northern Ireland's new acting First Minister says Sinn Fein’s alleged links to the IRA are “a cancer at the heart of government”.

Arlene Foster says the links between politicians and paramilitaries are a matter that “must be dealt with”.

Ms Foster is this morning beginning her tenure as Acting First Minister after Peter Robinson yesterday stepped aside, amid a growing crisis in Stormont.
