An elderly person escaped injury after a fire at their house in Clonmel in the early hours of this morning.
The woman was alone in the house on the Heywood Road at the time.
Investigations are underway into the cause of the fire which Gardaí think may have been started deliberately.
The pensioner was unaware of the fire which was spotted by a passer-by shortly after midnight.
Damage was confined to the front door of the house.
Gardaí in Clonmel will be carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area this morning.
They are appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the Heywood Road area late last night or early this morning to contact them on 052 6177640.
