Increased pressure in emergency departments today

Frontline staff in hospitals looking after Tipperary patients are coming under increasing pressure today.

Daily trolley watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show that University Hospital in Limerick has 30 patients without a bed between their ED and overflow wards this afternoon.

Meanwhile, South Tipp General in Clonmel are short 20 beds this afternoon with high numbers of people presenting for treatment.

Nationally there are 333 patients stuck on trolleys and chairs today
