Motorists who use the Old Bridge in Carrick on Suir will face disruptions for the next fortnight.
Strengthening works commence today on the crossing which was built in 1447
Traffic going from Carrick on Suir to Carrickbeg will be diverted via the N24 onto New Street and Dillon Bridge.
The long awaited works have been welcomed by local Fianna Fail representative Kieran Bourke who says they will be carried out in two phases.
