Housing grant funding cut by 66% in South Tipperary.

There's been a huge cut in the funding allocated for housing grants to South Tipperary County Council Scheme.

Director of Services Aidan Fennessy outlined the allocation from Central Government for 2013 to elected representatives at yesterdays meeting of the local authority.

The Housing Adaption Grants Scheme is aimed at older people and people with disabilities.

Last year South Tipp County Council got €3.1 million – for the year ahead it's down to €1.1 million

There have been similar cuts to the Social Housing Investment Programme which covers things like energy efficiency works, disability works on local authority houses and remedial works schemes.

This has been cut from €4.3 million to just over €1.5 million.
