Helpline to assist women over abortion pills

A free helpline for women who have used online abortion pills is to be launched in Ireland today.

The confidential “aftercare” support from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service will assist those who have taken tablets to induce a miscarriage.

The pills are illegal in Ireland and BPAS says it's simply responding to a demand for support.

However the pro life campaigner Dawn McAvoy from the Evangelical Alliance says women should not be encouraged to commit a criminal offence.
