Respite beds at a premium in Tipperary

Respite for people caring for family members in Tipperary is almost non-existent according to campaigners.

A new scorecard has been released today by Family Carers Ireland to review progress made by the Government Strategy’s that started five years ago.

Shockingly it shows that just a single objective, out of 42, has been delivered so far.

Richie Molloy is manager of the Family Carers Ireland office in South Tipp.

He is calling for beds to be set aside in Tipperary’s state run nursing homes for respite care.

Richie Molloy says something has to be done to avert a growing crisis.
