GRA considering pay deal offer

A new pay deal being considered by Gardaí may not be enough to stave off industrial action.

The union representing rank and file officers is considering a proposal from the Department of Justice today.

It offers new recruits a 4000 Euro rent allowance, but it won't restore salaries to 2008 levels.

GRA rep for Tipperary Tom Finnan has already said the new pay deal on offer to them is no better than the Lansdowne Road Agreement.

His Donegal counterpart Brendan O'Connor says they won't back down on their demands – even if that means striking.
