Gardaí seize weapons in Meath searches

The seizures were made last night in Ratoath in Co Meath and three men have been arrested.

The significant weapons find was made after armed Gardaí from the Emergency response unit, stopped two cars in and around the Co Meath village of Ratoath last night. 

Two AK47 assault rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition were discovered.

In a follow up search two semi automatic pistols, silencers and further quantities of ammunition were seized.

Tree men in their 30s are being questioned at Ashbourne and Kells Garda Stations

This is an important haul as Gardaí believe these arms were possibly being moved for use in the ongoing feud between two rival criminal gangs. 

The arrests come just a day after another man was killed in an apparent gangland style attack 

Noel Duggan died at the Old Mill estate in Ratoath after being shot up to five times while he was sitting in his car.
