Over three thousand Gardaí are set to be taken into the Templemore training college over the next four years.
Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says the move will see the force reach a strength of 15,000.
The recruitment drive will also mean a continued economic boost to the Mid-Tipp area.
The 3,200 student Gardaí to be recruited in this latest campaign will be in addition to the 1,200 taken into the Templemore training college since it reopened in September 2014.
Tanaiste and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says taking account of projected retirements this new campaign will fulfil the Government’s commitment to increase the strength of An Garda Síochána to 15,000 members.
Local Independent Councillor Eddie Moran says the continued recruitment campaign will be a significant boost to the economy of Templemore and surrounding area.
Applications must be made through www.publicjobs.ie. The closing date is Thursday September 29th next.
So far 534 recruits have attested as members of An Garda Síochána and are on the ground in communities nationwide while another 150 recruits are due to attest later this year.
Councillor Eddie Moran says while the recruitment drive is very welcome, the Tipperary Garda Division needs to benefit from the increased numbers in the force.
