Fresh drive to prioritise N24 upgrade

The road which runs from Limerick, through Tipperary and onto Kilkenny and Waterford is unsuitable for the thousands of vehicles; many of them articulated lorries which use it daily.

Tipperary County Council has written to both the Transport Minister and Transport Infrastructure Ireland seeking prioritisation of the national primary route.

Independent Clr Eddie O'Meara also wants councils along the route to push the matter as a single urgent issue while Carrick Councillor Kieran Bourke says an upgrade is necessary to curb the existing the road carnage on the route annually.

CEO of Tipperary County Council Joe McGrath says it’s essential that the local authority takes action on this now so they will be prepared when central funding becomes available again
