A fisherman has been rescued from his boat in Lough Derg.
The alarm was raised when the vessel got caught in rocks.
Shortly after half past five yesterday evening, the Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was contacted by Valentia Coast Guard to go to the aid of a person on the water.
The fisherman had called for help after his boat got wedged inside a rocky shoal.
Three members of the RNLI launched the lifeboat and located the vessel in Youghal Bay…when they arrived they found the fisherman wearing his lifejacket.
The man was taken onto the lifeboat while a crew member boarded the boat and took it off the shoal before it was towed to safe harbour.
Peter Kennedy, Deputy Launching Authority at Lough Derg RNLI Lifeboat, says boat users should ‘bring charts and know the areas close to shore marked as un-navigable’.
The man was brought to shore and wasn't injured.
