At a selection convention in Thurles in late May party members selected Councillor Jackie Cahill to stand.
However Fianna Fail headquarters recently decided to add Councillor's Siobhán Ambrose and Michael Smith to the ticket.
Jackie Cahill isn't convinced that this is a good idea based on the party’s standing in the opinion polls. He claims Fianna Fail members in Tipperary feel that headquarters have imposed their views on the party in the county and that the members feel aggrieved that their views have not been taken on board.
The former ICMSA president says he will be canvassing throughout the county from Carrick on Suir to Portroe, saying he doesn’t feel it’s practical to split the constituency into three.
