Escalation of trolley numbers

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the numbers have escalated considerably in the last 24 hours.

Nationally the figures are well in excess of 500 today.

31 patients admitted from the Emergency Department at South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel are without a bed this lunchtime.

24 of these are on trolleys or chairs while 7 have been placed on a ward but are still waiting for a bed.

Meanwhile at University Hospital Limerick there are 49 patients waiting for a bed – the highest number in the country.

The Dooradoyle hospital – which serves North Tipp – has 25 on trolleys and chairs while there are 24 in wards but without a bed.

In all 544 patients find themselves in this situation according to the INMO.

St Vincent’s in Dublin have 47, the Midland Regional in Tullamore 35; there are 36 at St Luke’s in Kilkenny while University Hospital Galway has 35 patients on trolleys.
