Authorities have set up audio systems on either side of the river Shannon that put out a message when someone walks by, telling them to clean up after their dog.
It's expected they'll be installed in other parts of the country in the coming months.
The system was developed by Riteview Solutions, which is based at NUI Maynooth in Co Kildare.
