Derry family identified as victims of drowning tragedy

A man, a woman, a teenage girl and two young boys, all members of an extended family, all drowned.

But, a four month old baby, who was rescued by a man who swam out to the vehicle, is said to be doing very well in Letterkenny General Hospital.

Gardai say the car – an Audi Q7- has been recovered from the water while post-mortems are due to be carried out this afternoon. 

Superintendent Colm Nevin of Ballyshannon Garda station has described the incident as a tragedy.
