Dáil’s Transport Committee to discuss the takeover bid for Aer Lingus.

Representatives from the Irish Airline Pilots Association, Aer Lingus unions and business groups from Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Limerick will appear before the Committee.

It comes amid reports that concerns were expressed at last night's meeting of the Labour parliamentary party about the takeover bid.

The Irish Times says leader Joan Burton told members she had yet to see any strong argument in favour of the deal, but the government could do little to block it.

Transport Committee Chairman John O'Mahony says the impact on the taxpayer, jobs and tourism will all be discussed today.
