Gardaí were alerted to an incident in the Heywood Close area of Clonmel at around 5 o’clock yesterday evening.
When they arrived on the scene they found a woman who had been assaulted.
The 26 year old was taken to South Tipp General Hospital where she has been treated for facial injuries.
A short time later a 32 year old woman was arrested in the same area in connection with the attack.
She is currently being held at Tipp Town Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The scene remained sealed off overnight pending a Garda forensics examination.
Garda investigations into the attack are ongoing.
