Court hears Tipperary fraudster had a wife, two fiances and a girlfriend.

He appeared in Roscommon Circuit Court where it emerged that he was married but was also involved in relationships with three other women.

Conor Brannigan of Stafford Hall, Silver Street, Nenagh admitted three separate charges of defrauding vet James Hoare of Rooskey, County Roscommon – the offences happened in 2010 and 2011.

Roscommon Circuit Court heard that the 41 year old had told James Hoare that he was an accountant used to acting in land deals.

Mr Hoare transferred €250,000 into a bank account controlled by Conor Brannigan to purchase land in County Roscommon – however the deal never went through.

Brannigan was married with three children but was also engaged to two other partners and had a girlfriend in Poland.

The court was also told that the accused had been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and that he was now living alone in local authority housing and had no income other than social welfare.

Judge Tony Hunt sentences Conor Brannigan to two years in prison but suspended the last 12 months.
