The Local Authority is providing €15,000 to the leisure facility which remains in serious financial difficulties due to falling membership combined with a quadrupling of insurance costs.

The centre in Tinvane was also hit by fire earlier this year.

As part of a rescue package the council is providing the facility with €15,000 up front but has been informed more monies will be needed.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Kieran Bourke says it must be given.

Meanwhile Sinn Fein Councillor David Dunne is calling for the pool in Carrick to be included in an overall review of pools across Tipperary.
