Council takes over lights in two Thurles estates

Two housing estates in Thurles will soon see the light as the local authority has taken responsibility for their public lighting.

Marlstone Manor and The Orchard in Thurles have not been taken in charge by the council, however the previous town council used to maintain the lights and since its abolition, the residents have been left in limbo.

The lights will now be switched on and looked after by the Templemore Thurles municipal district…however the same policy cannot be applied to all housing estates.

Sinn Fein Councillor David Doran has welcomed the move but says it's a unique situation.
