Claims plight of homeless people being ignored in Tipperary.

It's claimed the 18 year old viewed a bedsit yesterday but when it emerged she qualified for rent allowance was told by the letting agent that the property was no longer available.

Sinn Fein Councillor Catherine Carey says this girl’s story is just the tip of the iceberg.

She outlined the case of a woman who has gender issues which weren’t accepted at home – as a result she is now sleeping in a field with rats and spiders for neighbours.

Councillor Carey also spoke of man who is sleeping rough at the back of the old St Mary’s graveyard in Clonmel.

She claims we've become a nation of heartless people and that we need to start focusing on the real issue of homelessness.
