Cashel hospital should be used as step-down facility

Such a move has been proposed on many occasions in a bid to ease the overcrowding situation at South Tipp General Hospital.

The number of people waiting for a bed at the Clonmel facility has been running at abnormally high levels this year leading to patients being treated on trolleys and chairs.

Fianna Fail TD Jackie Cahill has put down a Dail question on the matter and says he will be pressing for answers.
