The chalice – which dates back to the 8th or 9th century – was one of five liturgical vessels discovered in 1980 in Lurgoe near Killenaule. It's currently housed at The National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.
As project funding and signage are set to be rolled out for the Ancient East tourism drive, Cathaoirleach of the Thurles Municpal District John Hogan feels displaying the chalice in the Premier should also be considered.

Fellow councillor Jim Ryan believes it's only right and proper that this should happen.
