Research carried out by Behaviour and Attitudes has found while 57 percent of people are comfortable discussing their emotional health, just 9 percent are happy to discuss a mental illness.

The study looked at the attitudes of over 1,000 Irish adults
Spokesperson Shane Kelly says more needs to be done to make us comfortable discussing our mental health:

“it is surprising, and I suppose what the survey is telling us is that everybody does report to us 'I've no problem talking about it, I'm really happy to talk and get help if I have a problem – but I have a massive fear of ever having a problem'” he said.

“So I suppose we need to have a normalisation of mental health awareness” he added.
