Book of evidence due in Lowry court case

The Book of Evidence is expected to be served next month on Tipperary TD Michael Lowry in relation to allegations he filed incorrect tax returns.

The case was mentioned at Thurles District Court today; however the Independent Deputy of Glenreigh, Holycross wasn't present for proceedings.

Michael Lowry is charged with three counts of knowingly filing incorrect tax returns on October 31st 2003 and one count of knowingly filing an incorrect return on August 3rd 2007

The former Fine Gael Minister was initially charged last December – with the matter up for mention again in January.

Today at Thurles District Court – Sergeant Eddie Brennan said the state was seeking a further adjournment in the case until March 4th.

Judge Elizabeth McGrath asked if the book of evidence would be ready by that date and when informed it would be- she adjourned the matter, by consent until early next month.

While Michael Lowry hasn't been present for these proceedings to date – in a statement to Tipp FM last month he said he intends to vigorously contest the Revenue allegations.
