Postmasters say the state could get more value for money out of the postal service.
The Irish Postmasters' Union says they want to become a one stop shop for everything from medical prescription drop off points to allowing staff become Peace Commissioners.
They say they want their outlets to be the go to place for payment, application, identity verification and advice for all Government services.
