Appeal against expansion plans for Tipperary waste facility

The decision by the county council to give the project at Lawlesstown the green light has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.

Last month Clonmel Waste Disposal was granted planning permission to expand their business at their site on the Cashel Road.

It had applied to the local authority to double the permitted level of waste it can take in – from 24 thousand tonnes per year to near 50 thousand.

The plan also included an upgrade and road improvement works to the existing access route including hedgerow removal and surface widening.

The council gave it the green light subject to 8 conditions however now objections have been lodged with An Bord Pleanala over that decision.

The planning appeal board inspectors will now review all the documentation submitted and carry out a site inspection before making a ruling on the project – with that decision expected in mid-July
