Apollo House occupants call for homelessness to be solved prior to evacuation

The occupiers of Apollo House say they won't leave on January 11th unless every homeless person in the building is housed.

They're marching through Dublin city at the moment towards the Department of Finance.

Around 200 people gathered outside the occupied NAMA building Apollo House.

They're marching to the Department of Finance with a letter calling on the Minister to compel NAMA to use their buildings to ease the homelessness problem.

Tommy Gavin from Home Sweet Home says it's time NAMA was used to help the homeless.

The letter argues that the Minister has powers to compel NAMA to use its properties for the social good of the state.

Campaigners have been ordered to leave the property by January 11th.

However Rosie Leonard from the organisation says they'll only do that if all the occupants can be housed properly.

More than 4000 people have signed the petition being handed to Michael Noonan's Department today.
