A number of councillors at this weeks meeting of the county council raised concerns about the variation of the plan.
Particular opposition was expressed at the proposal to include areas near Ahenny and Dualla as suitable for wind farms.
The plan will be going on public display shortly to allow people express their view.
Councillor Louise McLoughlin lives close to a windfarm in Dualla and says locals have had major problems as a result.
