Air traffic controllers clear Santa’s flight path

Airlines flying across Irish airspace have been told to change their route to make sure that the man in red can stay on schedule to deliver millions of presents to children in Tipperary and across the country.

Santa will leave the North Pole later today and begin his dash around the world delivering presents to more than 2 billion children.

We are told he will begin deliveries at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean before travelling west.

After taking in New Zealand and Australia he shoots up to Japan, over to Asia, across to Africa, then onto Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central and South America.

Operations Director at Shannon Airport Niall Moloney says they will clear the way for Santa to deliver all the presents.
