3 Fethard pubs fined for illegal betting

The Revenue Commissioners say the cases were taken against three pubs in Fethard; Noel Sharpe, trading as The Castle Inn, Watergate Street; Martin Burke, trading as The Bridge Bar, Main Street and Kieran Gaule, trading as Gaules, Burke Street 

At Clonmel District Court Judge Terence Finn convicted the three men of 'carrying on the business as a bookmaker without being the holder of a Bookmakers Licence issued under the Betting Act, 1931

Each were fined 5000 euro each but it was mitigated to 2,500 with 6 months to pay or 10 days in default.
