Residents in Terryglass are warning that yesterday’s temporary blockade of a local road is just the first of many if the council doesn’t take action.

They are demanding the County Council tackle major problems on a stretch of the road from Terryglass to Borrisokane.

Local man Niall Heenan told Fran Curry on Tipp Today about how bad the 1.7 kilometre stretch of the Roran Road is.

Nearly 40 people took part in an hour long protest on the road near Terryglass yesterday.

They closed the route to traffic to highlight the poor conditions and the impact it’s having on both local residents and those travelling the route on a daily basis

One of the organisers of yesterday’s action Niall Heenan says they got great support from people in the area.

A public meeting has been organised for the Hall in Terryglass tomorrow night where local residents and people affected by the road will formulate plans for future action.

Speaking on Tipp Today earlier Niall Heenan says the council needs to undertake significant works.
