A malfunction at a signalling station at Limerick Junction caused long delays for rail passengers yesterday.
Thousands of Irish Rail customers were delayed for up to three hours after a fire damaged equipment.
This impacted on around 30 journeys between Dublin's Heuston Station and Killarney.
Irish Rail staff at Limerick Junction had to revert to a manual signalling system as a result of the incident.
Services through the Junction are now back to normal.
