Tipp home to Ireland’s 2nd CNG outlet

Ireland’s second Compressed Natural Gas station has opened at a Tipperary forecourt.

The fuel is available at Circle K’s filling station in Cashel and is seen as an important step in reducing carbon emissions in the HGV transport sector.

While only four percent of vehicles on Ireland’s roads are classified as HGVs and buses, they account for 30 percent of all emissions in the road transport sector.

Head of Commercial & Corporate Affairs with Gas Networks Ireland, Ian O’Flynn has been explaining the significance of this technology.

“Compressed gas is an alternative fuel to diesel. It’s a proven technology with over 28 million gas vehicles on the road across the world today and 2 million of these in Europe alone.”

“CNG is particularly known for its reliability and presenting cost saving opportunities.”
