Fianna Fáil look set to field two candidates in the Roscrea – Templemore electoral area.
Party HQ is expected to ratify Templetuohy resident and local community activist William Bergin to stand alongside Councillor Michael Smith on the Fianna Fáil ticket.
Bergin has a rich background in the GAA and is involved with the Moyne Templetuohy club.
