Storm Ophelia has claimed a life in Tipperary

Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 30s has died following an incident near Cahir.

It’s understood the man was clearing a fallen tree at Ballybrado on the Cahir Ardfinnan road when the tragedy happened at around 12.30pm.

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating.

Gardaí continue to advise all persons to stay indoors and not to venture out. Do not put your life or the lives of the Emergency Services at risk by travelling unless absolutely necessary.

Meanwhile a woman in her 50s has been confirmed dead after a tree fell on her car in Aglish in West Waterford – a female passenger in her 70s has been taken to University Hospital Waterford with non-life threatening injuries.
